A Level Joy: Reptonians have plenty to celebrate

With over 18% of the passes receiving an A* grade, pupils and staff at Repton have plenty to celebrate.

Manon Allen (F) secured her place at Selwyn College, Cambridge with five A* grades and will read History and Politics.

Three other Reptonians – Elizabeth Martin de Bartolome (F), Hannah Sherry (G) and Kyoko Canaway (G) - will also have places at Cambridge confirmed as a consequence of their outstanding results. Kyoko will take up a prestigious Organ Scholarship at Gonville and Caius, Cambridge.

Joel Holmes (L) heads for University College, Oxford with an Open Offer to read Computer Science and Philosophy.

Mr John Driver, Director of University Entrance, commented: “I am delighted for the successful Oxbridge candidates. That they not only gained the grades specified in their offer but also exceeded them is testament to both the ability and commitment of the applicants and also the guidance provided by their teachers.”

Mimi Tarrant (M) meanwhile, will take up her place at Harvard University in the United States. She was one of five pupils awarded an A* for every subject they sat; as well as Manon Allen and Mimi this was also achieved by Kyoko Canaway, Hannah Sherry and Catherine McEwan (A), who is going on to read Biological Sciences at Durham.

Adding his congratulatory note to all pupils, Headmaster Alastair Land said: “This year’s A-level examinations have seen Repton School pupils awarded grades of which they can be very proud. The achievements are the result of the diligence of pupils and the meticulous care taken by teachers both in class and through one-to-one support.

“Most boys and girls have achieved the grades necessary to gain admission to their first or second choice university course: a commendable outcome for their years of studying at Repton.”
