Match Report:

The timing for this match couldn’t better – our ball skills were nearly perfect after lots of training and the team have started to work very well with each other. The first quarter went well; we got off to a flying start and were 3 goals in the lead. Despite a lethargic bus journey, we were definitely the stronger team for the first 15 minutes – Harriet Hunt and Eleanor Tyler were on brilliant form scoring at each opportunity. Rugby picked up their game for the second quarter and we were drawing 12 -12 by the end of the first half. Their fitness was stronger than ours in the third quarter as we began to become tired. The mid-court players Sarah Stewart, Carla Peters and Charlotte Jacques were fantastic and made some perfect interceptions to help us raise our game once more. At half time, positions were changed to ensure we were all playing to our strengths. The third quarter wasn’t our strongest of the 4 despite the efforts of both Flo Stewart – Sandeman and Zoe Dunn in defence. We began to become sloppy but shooting was still excellent, and the team spirit was still high. With a fine team talk from Mrs Goodhead at the end of this quarter, we managed to pick our game back up in the final 15 minutes of the game – almost every Rugby centre pass was intercepted well and we finished the game with the final score of 30-22 to Repton. This game was one of our strongest – the team worked brilliantly together, shooting was strong, defence was fantastic and the play mid-court was fast , furious and accurate. Well done girls!
