Having been inspired by the success of last year’s Sportathon two Upper Sixth Formers, Hannah Sherry and Kyoko Canaway (both U6G), are now organising a 24 hour Pianoathon.
A piano in the Music School will be being played continuously for 24 hours by pupils, staff and Friends of Repton. The repertoire will be varied and range from solo performances, duets and, possibly, chopsticks repeated for 30 minutes!
The event will start at 8am on Friday the 27th January in the Music school and will run through the night until 8am on Saturday where there will be an informal concert (7am - 8am), performed by those who have stayed overnight. In addition the girls are delighted that Luis Parès will return to give a recital at 7pm on the 27th as part of the event.
All funds raised will go to Help Musicians UK which supports musicians who have suffered extreme difficulties or crises, possibly through bereavement or illness. Hannah and Kyoko know a family who has been helped by the charity and are keen to raise as much as possible.
