Match Report:
Despite Denstone having four very good German players, who would make the Repton side, and being probably one of the stronger school teams that we will play this year, this game highlighted quite how good the current Repton crop are.

The opening exchanges were competitive with some high quality distribution from the Denstone defenders causing trouble in the Repton midfield. However, once the early break-through was made, Repton took full control. Although in control of the game in possession the defensive structure was as poor as I have seen from the girls this season and needed to be sorted at half-time. To their credit, they adjusted accordingly and this helped them to score ten second half goals.

Highlights of the game would have to include Rhiannon Rogers' first goal for Repton. Meg Byas made a (now trademark) base-line run before playing a perfect pass to Rhiannon who had the easiest of tap-ins to open her account. Rhiannon followed this up, almost immediately, with a more impressive finish. There were superb individual goals from Shona McCallin, Jo Leigh and Rebecka Siebert but my favourites were Ellie Green's and Abi Krone's almost identical strikes after excellent moves through midfield.

Short corners were good - three were scored from just five awarded - and Sophie Hawkins scored from the spot as Wiz Mumby was on the bench at the time of the award! Regular substitutions helped the girls to maintain their intensity and highlighted the depth of strength of this group.

I will announce a squad later today for the Denstone Sixes this weekend and will select accordingly so that the tournament is of use to everyone involved.
