Match Report:

As a final preparation match for the Midlands finals on Saturday, this couldn't have been a better match. Admittedly the timetabling of external examinations could have been better but with little option we managed to get through with just 7 players(just about apart from 2 minutes where we had P Whittome on loan from the Under 16A team!). Both teams started well although we looked slightly sharper than they did on 50-50 balls. Both teams made minor errors but we ended the first quarter 9 goals to 7 in the lead. Priory woke up for the second quarter and put many more interceptions in. Being honest, they had the edge on us during this period as we started to look tired and lethargic and began to move away rather than towards the ball. At half time (19-18 in the lead), we made a few changes in an attempt to see how we worked in different positions (sometimes simply changing the format to face different players can work in ones favour - although the danger is it can also work against!) and we started to break away. As we entered the final 12 minutes we were 25 goals to 19 in the lead. We managed to maintain a difference of 6 although they did come back fighting. This was a solid performance from the girls and considering our opponents have also made it through to Midlands, this was a pleasing win. It has given us a few last minute details to think about before Saturday that need addressing, but more than anything it was a treat to watch such tidy and clean netball played in the true spirit of the game.
