1st VII v Chellaston

Date: Tuesday 12th January

Venue: Home. Please meet at the Sports Hall at 3.15pm for a 3.30pm start. These are short matches (probably only 6 minute quarters) and the Under 16's will play after us. Please remember nails/drinks/jewellery.

Match Report: This was a cracking start to the season and the girls were on fire from the moment the starting whistle was blown. Owing to time limitations and to make sure the Under 16's could also get a game in, the match was limited to 6 minute quarters and on hindsight this was a real positive for us as it meant we had to knuckle down straight away which is what we are going to have to do for the Midlands tournament where matches are very short anyway. After the first quarter we led 7 goals to 2 (the first goal was scored within 7 seconds!) and then we marched on to 13 - 4 by half time. G Horn was outstanding in her distribution in and out of the shooting circle, and S Parkin was working beautifully with her to convert all our centre passes into goals (neither shooter missed in the first 12 shots of the game!). In the third quarter, we maintained the lead and it was fantastic to see the entire team putting into practice what we have been working on in training ; marking every ball and trying to get finger tips onto every pass. We made many interceptions, and managed to see the match through to a very well earnt victory against this competent Chellaston side. NMO
