Match Report:
As the scores above show, anything can happen in a tournament - especially one where the matches are only 7 minutes each way. With the exception of our match against Oakham in the group stages, we played some outstanding netball as highlighted by the score lines and the entire team worked so well for each other and fought tooth and nail for every ball. For some reason we couldnt quite get it together against Oakham and we seemed to fall lethargic and lost the hunger for the ball. However, we went through as group runners up and played Trent in the Semi Final. We played well (although not as well as we did against Oundle which I have to say, was absolutely superb) and they also played well - the fact was that either team could have won, but the whistle simply went against us . Both teams were desperately trying to convert their centre passes into goals and the seconds just fell wrong for us. We then met Oakham again in the 3rd/4th play off but this time we got it together and really made the match our own! I was so very proud of the whole team - their attitude both on and off the court was exemplary. Unfortunately, despite being the best team, we just couldn't quite clinch the title, but the experience was a very valuable one insofar as anything is possible in such short matches! Many thanks to Mrs Jenkinson who was a fantastic support to both me and the girls on the side-line and to our trusty team of supporters who not only make the greatest smoked salmon sandwiches, but who showed real staying power especially when it was so very cold standing/sitting still!
